Andaman and Nicobar Islands Government Announces Holiday List for 2025

The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has released the official list of public holidays and restricted holidays for the year 2025. The announcement was made by the Lieutenant Governor of the Islands, and it includes both public holidays and restricted holidays.

Key Public Holidays:

  • Republic Day will be observed on January 26th.
  • Holi will be on March 14th.
  • Good Friday is on April 18th.
  • Independence Day will be on August 15th.
  • Gandhi Jayanti will be observed on October 2nd.
  • Diwali will be celebrated on October 30th.
  • Christmas Day is on December 25th.

Other Public Holidays Include:

  • Makar Sankranti/Magha Bihu/Pongal/Hazrat Ali’s Birthday (January 14)
  • Id-ul-Fitr (March 31)
  • Buddha Purnima (May 12)
  • Muharram (July 6)
  • Ganesh Chaturthi/Vinayaka Chaturthi (August 27)
  • Milad-un-Nabi or Id-e-Milad (September 5)
  • Guru Nanak’s Birthday (November 5)

Restricted Holidays:

In addition to the public holidays, there is also a list of restricted holidays, where employees can choose to take leave. Some of the important restricted holidays include:

  • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • Guru Govind Singh’s Birthday (January 1)
  • Baisakhi / Vaisakhi (April 13)
  • Ram Navami (April 16)
  • Onam (August 25)
  • Dussehra (October 1)
  • Additionally, there are a number of other regional holidays and festivals included in the restricted holiday list.

Important Note:

  • The date of some holidays, such as Id-ul-Fitr, may change depending on the sighting of the moon.
